This policy outlines procedures for reporting misconduct by instructional personnel or school administrators that may affect the health, safety, or welfare of a student.

All employees, administrators, volunteers, contractors, and agents have an affirmative obligation to report misconduct by instructional personnel or school administrators that affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student.

Failure to report known or suspected misconduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, and may result in penalties under Florida law.

Misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child
  • Use of obscene or profane language
  • Drug or alcohol use on campus or during school activities
  • Discriminatory, prejudicial, or harassing behavior
  • Sexual misconduct, sexual innuendo, or inappropriate relationships
  • Physical aggression or threats
  • Cheating, testing violations, or falsification of records
  • Accepting or offering favors in exchange for preferential treatment

Allegations involving abuse, neglect, or exploitation must be immediately reported to the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Abuse Hotline at 1-800-962-2873 or via the online reporting system.

Legally sufficient allegations involving Florida-certified educators will be reported to the Florida Department of Education, Office of Professional Practices Services (OPPS).

Reports involving instructional personnel or administrators should be made to:

Reports may be made verbally or in writing. Individuals who make reports in good faith are protected from retaliation.
