VISION STATEMENT

At Voyager Learning Adventures, every child’s journey leads toward a life of discovery, growth, and purpose.

MEET THE LEADERSHIP

Steven Hoffman

Founder

Steve Hoffman taught middle school and high school science and social studies for several years before entering the private sector to focus on education and recreational programs. An owner of multiple preschools and afterschool programs over many years, a love of camp life brought him to Camp Geneva in Fruitland Park in the 2010’s, where, along with a dedicated and talented team, has developed the facilities to accommodate an ever-expanding roster of youth and family based programs.

April Roth

Program Director

April is the Program Director of Voyager Learning Adventures and has spent more than two decades working alongside children, families, and educators to create learning environments where students are known, supported, and inspired to grow.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and brings a unique blend of operational leadership, educational insight, and hands-on experience with learners from preschool through high school. Throughout her career, April has worked directly with students, supported families navigating academic challenges, and led the development of programs that strengthen early literacy, foundational math, and whole-child development.

April’s work is deeply shaped by her love of travel, the outdoors, and lifelong exploration. Whether hiking forest trails, listening to live music, or looking up at the night sky, she is continually reminded that curiosity is the doorway to learning. She believes some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond four walls—through play, movement, discovery, and connection to the natural world.

At Voyager Learning Adventures, April brings together her passion for education, thoughtful program design, and community-building to create experiences that feel both intentional and joyful. Her guiding belief is simple: when children feel curious, capable, and cared for, learning follows naturally.

Valerie Montgomery

Instructional Lead

Valerie Montgomery has been in the educational field for over twenty years, spending most of her teaching career in the great state of Wyoming.  Now, a happy native of Florida, she is pleased to join the wonderful staff of Voyager Academy as the Instructional Lead.

Valerie has a well rounded educational background, with an Associates Degree in Business, a Bachelor’s Degree in both Special Education and General Education, and a Masters Degree in English and Creative Writing.

As the proud parents of many children, and grandchildren, and many domestic pets, she spends her free time refinishing furniture, landscaping and writing both children books and novels. She loves to travel, fish, and spend time with her extensive family.

Valerie believes that children should learn through a multitude of sources that encompass more than just text books. She’s excited to be a part of Voyager Academy.

Beth Smith

Administrative & Program Support

Beth supports Voyager Learning Adventures through a wide range of administrative and program support roles, helping ensure that daily operations and program development run smoothly. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organismic Biology as well as an Associate’s degree in Biology, bringing a strong scientific foundation to her work.

Beth has experience across administrative support, program development, and organizational development, with additional strengths in sales, marketing, grant writing, and donor development. Her diverse background allows her to contribute thoughtfully to both the operational and mission-driven aspects of the organization.

She believes that learning is the foundation for developing critical thinkers and compassionate, capable adults, and she considers it a privilege to play a role—large or small—in supporting children’s imagination and learning journeys.

Outside of work, Beth can most often be found outdoors, hiking wooded trails, camping, or heading out for an invigorating run in nature.
